It may come as a surprise to many people but Torakusu Yamaha built his first musical instrument, a reed organ, in 1887 and began production of upright pianos in 1900. Today, from the Company’s headquarters in Hamamatsu, Japan, Yamaha can boast some of the most cutting-edge musical instrument manufacturing facilities in the world.
Among their best loved instruments, the ubiquitous U1 upright is the piano of choice for countless teachers, schools, churches and discerning musicians across the globe. This U1, serial number H1865315, was built c.1975 and is in a polished black finish. It’s presented in good mechanical and cosmetic condition having recently been refurbished in our own workshops, showing only a few minor bumps and blemishes on the casework.
