Description
Paradies achieved real fame as a composer for the keyboard, especially with his ‘Sonate di Gravicembalo’, first published in 1754 and frequently reprinted. These sonatas are among the most beautiful and most important harpsichord works after Domenico Scarlatti. The manuscript being lost, this edition of these sonatas is based on the carefully printed first edition published by John Johnson, London, which has been compared with all the other early editions that could be found. The parts have been distributed among the two staves in a way that will at times be more easily readable than the original, yet without leaving the reader in any doubt about the composer’s intentions.
