Description
Friedrich August Förster built his first piano in 1859 in a factory which he had set up in Löbau, Saxony. Following a long and chequered history, which included a period of State ownership from 1972, his Great Grandson Wolfgang Förster was able to re-privatise the family business in 1991 following the collapse of the East German government. Over the last few decades, this factory has been expanded into a cutting edge, modern production facility.
At 6’3” (190cm) this grand is big enough to provide the depth and quality of sound you’d expect while still being compact enough for smaller spaces. Originally sold new by us in 1996, this instrument has just been refurbished in our own workshops and is presented in lovely condition. The tone is well-balanced with a rich bass and smooth treble, and the action is very responsive and even across the range. The polished walnut casework is in excellent condition for its age with only minor fading and blemishes.
