Reeds For Woodwind Instruments
A reed on a woodwind instrument is material that produces the sound when it vibrates, in turn, this is amplified through the mouthpiece and the instrument to create the sound you hear. Reeds vary in strength (softer and harder), 1 being the softest and 5 being the hardest. The harder the reed often means the more embouchure required to play the instrument. Stronger reeds tend to produce a much richer tone but are better suited to the more experienced musician.
We stock reeds for clarinets, saxes & oboes amongst other instruments.
